Subject: In 1948, Canadian Pacific Airlines got the contract to deliver mail in northern Quebec, and during the period between freeze-up and when the ice was thick enough for ski-equipped aircraft to land on the lakes, the mail was air-dropped. The painting depicts a DC-3 of CPA dropping a mail bag on Ashuanippi Lake.
